'The man with the twisted lip' is the sixth story in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The story starts quite uncoventionally at Watson's home, where his wife's friend has come to seek help from Watson's wife. The nature of problem is such that Watson has to visit some notorious places of London to help finding her husband. Watson solves the woman's problem, but he finds his dear friend in the same notorius place trying to help some other woman to find her missing husband. Watson remains with Holmes and gets to witness a crime of the most original manner.
Master detective admits he need to be kicked in the butt for being such an idiot!!

Asomiya_Rohini font
Few months back I mentioned about a font set for Assamese which would include all necessary forms and be suitable for using with UNICODE. Respected Wahid Saleh Sir of e-jonaki-jug has shown interest in the font. Since then I worked some more on the the font set and they are usable now.
The font-set is a modified work on SolaimanLipi by Solaiman Karim.
If you are interested you can download the font from here.
There is demo page with UNICODE webpage at this address: http://www.bhuruka.org/rohini/html.html
However, please bear in mind that demo page has embedded font. So, it will take some time to load. Also, the page does not work in Google Chrome (at least in my version). The page worked fine with IE6 and Mozilla.
I shall be glad to know any comments, suggestions about the font. You can contact me for any problem using the font.

Hello all,
Posting after a long gap! Currently busy putting together a website to maintain a database of books published from Assam. The website is up and running, but currently is in beta phase. The site is planned as a community driven project where any member can add books and comment and share their thought about the book.

Five Orange Pips, Assamese translation of a Sherlock Holmes story
Continuing my venture to translate the stories of Sherlcok Holmes to Assamese here is the fifth story from 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.'
The nice looking young man is petrified after he got five dried orange pips by post. While local police thinks the pips are nothing but a practical joke, Holmes thinks otherwise. Holmes may be the analytical genius of the world, but can he play against fate?
Five orange pips is an wonderful reading. One of the most shocking and terrifying tales of Sherlock Holmes. And there is nothing like first reading of the story.

Online Assamese Dictionary.
This Sherlock Holmes translation had made me learn few great things. Two of them I would like to share:
www.xobdo.org is an online Assamese Dictionary, which is English-to-Assamese, Assamese-to-English and also many other languages prevalent in North-East. That is community project and new words are added everyday. Not only you can use the dictionary, you can even help make it better by adding new words. Till now around 35000 words are there and still counting. However, for my need it was a bit inadequate, as most words that I needed were not in the dictionary. But, this is not a fault with the website, as those words are rarely used. And, I shall be happy if the webmasters of the site can make it a bit faster.

Boscombe Valley Mystery
Circumstantial evidences can be misleading, as Holmes points sout "Circumstantial evidence can be a very tricky thing." So, Holmes starts his investigation to find out what really happened on the fateful day when young McCarthy found his father dead near the Boscombe pool. Evidences go against young McCarthy, and he himself seems reluctant to throw light on the day's events except pleading 'non-guilty'. Holmes also has to take a decision about the further course of events, as law is not only about crime and punishment, it is also about living in peace and harmony.

Assamese fonts, problems and removing them
Since you must have noted that I write in my blog in Assamese fonts. To do this I use a bangla keypad software AVRO Keyboard. Avrokeybord is freely downlodable from http://www.omicronlab.com/, but, only this keyboard can not make you write in Assamese. You need to have a supporting OS (Operating System) and unicode compliant fonts.
Windows XP has support for Assamese typing but one has to install Complex Script Language pack from the installation CD. Vista, Windows 7 do not need any other installation. Then, you have to download some unicode assamese fonts. Since only assamese fonts are not available for free except Adarsha Ratne (but not a proper unicode font and has some very needed typing help is missing), you get some free bangla fonts. All free bangla fonts do have the assamese specifc ৰ And ৱ. you can get most of fonts from http://www.ekushey.org/. But, though the fonts are nice there is some difficulty as ৰু ৱু letters are not there. They do not have the ear-marked assamese RU and WU. But, these fonts can be added by modifying the fonts using some font editor program. While most font editors are expensive commercial product, I got http://www.fontforge.org/ which is an opensource program. Fontforge is for linux, but there are deportations in windows and I use mingw-deported fontforge. There I have created the missing letters and have solved some pairing problems.
Later on, I tweaked all the fonts in some or other way, and today, I found them working, which needs very minor modification. Which will be done in a few days. If anyone is interested in the new font you can mail me or just give your e-mail id by commenting.
We need a really beautiful font set for assamese letters. Because even in the fonts being used for books have minor problems which can be seen on closer observation.
I shall soon upload something with my fonts for all of you to see and to comment so that I can understand where are the mistakes and how can I correct them.
